Gall y farchnad blodau sydd wedi’u torri ddysgu llawer o’r ffordd y mae’r diwydiant bwyd a diod wedi hyrwyddo tarddiad a ffynonellau lleol fel ffordd i fanteisio ar ddiddordeb cynyddol defnyddwyr i ddeall o ble y daw ein bwyd.  Ac nid oes cam mawr rhwng gwybod o ble y daw ein llaeth, i fod eisiau gwybod pwy sydd wedi tyfu ein blodau.  Mae’r diddordeb hwn yn aml yn rhan o ddyhead i brynu’n foesegol a lleihau milltiroedd bwyd (neu flodau).

Blodau Prydeinig

Y llynedd, lansiodd Undeb Cenedlaethol yr Amaethwyr (NFU) ei adroddiad “Backing British Blooms” a oedd yn nodi rhai o’r heriau sy’n wynebu’r farchnad blodau wedi’u torri ym Mhrydain, ond roedd hefyd yn disgrifio’r ffyrdd y gallai’r diwydiant gyrraedd ei botensial lawn, ac adennill busnes gan y farchnad blodau sy’n cael eu mewnforio.

Ciplun o’r farchnad
Yn ôl y Gymdeithas Blodau a Phlanhigion, mae marchnad blodau ffres wedi’u torri a phlanhigion dan do y DU yn werth £2.2 biliwn ar lefel fanwerthu, sy’n cynrychioli gwariant cyfartalog o £36 y person y flwyddyn.

Mae hyn wedi cynyddu o’r gwerth o £8 y person ym 1984, ond mae’n sylweddol is na’r gwariant fesul person mewn gwledydd Ewropeaidd eraill.

Roedd adroddiad Undeb Cenedlaethol yr Amaethwyr yn nodi bod y blodau y mae Prydain yn eu mewnforio yn werth £666 miliwn yn 2015, cynnydd chwe gwaith yn fwy ar y £1222 miliwn o fewnforion ym 1988.
Y 3 gwlad sy’n allforio fwyaf i’r DU yw’r Iseldiroedd, Kenya a Colombia, gyda’r mwyafrif o’r blodau sydd wedi’u torri yn dod drwy arwerthiannau Iseldiraidd.
Mae’r NFU yn amcangyfrif bod tua 12% o’r blodau sy’n cael eu gwerthu yn y DU yn cael eu tyfu ym Mhrydain.
Yn y DU, mae’r mwyafrif o flodau (56%) yn cael eu gwerthu mewn archfarchnadoedd, gyda gwerthwyr blodau yn cyfrannu tua 25% o’r gwerthiannau.

Wedi’u Tyfu nid eu Mewnforio
Gydag argaeledd tymhorol yn rhinwedd, mae nifer o fusnesau ar-lein wedi datblygu sy’n hyrwyddo tyfwyr ym Mhrydain ac sy’n ceisio cysylltu defnyddwyr â thyfwyr lleol.
Mae busnesau megis The Flower Union, Common Farm Flowers, Flowers from the Farm, The Great British Florist, The British Flower Collective oll yn hyrwyddo’r neges ‘wedi’u tyfu nid eu mewnforio’ a helpu i sicrhau bod llais tyfwyr blodau lleol yn cael eu clywed.

Roedd adroddiad ‘Backing British Blooms’ yr NFU yn gwneud rhai argymhellion ar gyfer cael gwared ar rai o’r rhwystrau at dyfu ar gyfer tyfwyr blodau ym Mhrydain, gan gynnwys:

Datblygu Cymdeithas Tyfwyr Blodau wedi’u Torri Prydain i gynrychioli’r sector, gweithredu ymgyrchoedd cyffredinol “prynu’n lleol” a lobïo’r llywodraeth a manwerthwyr
Gwella labeli tarddle er mwyn helpu defnyddwyr i wneud dewis gwybodus
Buddsoddi mewn Ymchwil a Datblygu ac arloesedd yn y sector
Buddsoddi mewn seilwaith logisteg
Buddsoddi mewn sgiliau a hyfforddiant

Felly, beth mae hyn yn ei olygu i dyfwyr blodau/planhigion yng Nghymru?

Mae angen i chi ystyried eich negeseuon marchnata – a oes gennych neges gref “Tyfwyd yng Nghymru”?
Os gellir defnyddio eich blodau/planhigion fel cynhwysion mewn cynnyrch bwyd neu ddiod, dewch o hyd i gynhyrchwyr lleol a all ddefnyddio eich blodau/planhigion er mwyn gallu gwneud datganiad cryfach ar gynnyrch lleol.
Dylech ystyried crynhoi eich adnoddau – allech chi weithio gyda thyfwyr eraill o Gymru i gynnig dewis ehangach o flodau neu blanhigion sydd wedi’u tyfu’n lleol i ddarpar gwsmeriaid?  Neu allech chi rannu logisteg neu gostau mewnbynnu er mwyn helpu i wella maint yr elw?

Os oes gennych ddiddordeb mewn gweithio gyda thyfwyr blodau neu blanhigion eraill, anfonwch e-bost i tyfucymru@lantra.co.uk
