Ym 1997 y cynnyrch cyfartalog am dair blynedd oedd 8.6t/ha, sy’n cynrychioli 52% o’r sector ffrwythau meddal, gan gynyddu i 2.30t/ha a 72% o’r sector yn 2015.  Mewn termau gwerth, ar 28ain Ebrill 2016, roedd cyfanswm y gwerthiannau mefus blynyddol yn £564 miliwn, sy’n cynrychioli mwy na 51 y cant o gyfanswm gwerth y gwerthiannau ffrwythau meddal, a gyrhaeddodd y cyfanswm uchaf erioed o £1.1 biliwn.

 

Ar hyn o bryd, mae ffrwythau meddal yn cynrychioli 22% o’r holl bryniannau ffrwythau gan ddefnyddwyr yn y DU, sy’n dangos galw cryf am fefus ymhlith defnyddwyr.  Mae tyfwyr yn y DU wedi llwyddo i gadw i fyny â’r cynnydd 153% yn y galw gan ddefnyddwyr yn yr 20 mlynedd ddiwethaf.  Gyda dim ond 75-80% o’r farchnad wedi’i threiddio, marchnadoedd wedi’u tanwasanaethu, yn ogystal ag archfarchnadoedd  disgownt yn gweld twf o rhwng 40 a 50% mewn gwerthiannau yn y ddwy flynedd ddiwethaf, mae potensial sylweddol o hyd i gynyddu cynhyrchiant.

 

Er bod cynhyrchwyr domestig yn cyflawni bron i 100% o alw yn y DU rhwng mis Mai a mis Medi, dim ond 69% o gyfanswm y galw blynyddol y mae hyn yn ei gynrychioli.  Gyda thyfwyr yn yr Iseldiroedd a Gwlad Belg yn pigo drwy’r flwyddyn, mae yna botensial i dyfwyr yn y DU gynyddu’r 10% o ffrwythau meddal sy’n cael eu tyfu dan wydr ar hyn o bryd er mwyn cynyddu ein capasiti i gyflawni galw cenedlaethol.

 

Mae tyfu heb bridd wedi’i nodi fel dull arloesol allweddol y gellir ei ddefnyddio i hyrwyddo datblygiad y sector garddwriaeth yng Nghymru.  Defnyddir dulliau niferus ar gyfer tyfu heb bridd a gellir eu teilwra i weddu daliadau newydd neu bresennol.  Paratowyd y ddogfen hon i ddarparu gwybodaeth am dyfu heb bridd er mwyn helpu i hyrwyddo’r defnydd o ddulliau tyfu newydd yn sector garddwriaeth Cymru.
Rhoddir amlinelliad o sut i sefydlu dulliau tyfu heb bridd, yn ogystal â chyngor ar integreiddio’r dulliau hyn i’r llwybrau cynhyrchu a marchnata presennol er mwyn i dyfwyr allu gweithredu technegau dethol fel rhan o’u menter.
