Cynhaliwyd yr astudiaeth sylfaenol hon ar gyfer Tyfu Cymru gan Dr. Amber Wheeler ac mae'n edrych ar y cyfleoedd ar gyfer cynhyrchu Ffrwythau a Llysiau Cymru.
Canfu’r astudiaeth fod 204 o gynhyrchwyr ffrwythau a llysiau masnachol yng Nghymru, y mae 120 ohonynt ar raddfa fach (117 o dan 5 ha, 3 cynhyrchydd 5-10 ha).
Mae cymysgedd amrywiol o ffrwythau a llysiau (rhwng 25 a 65 o wahanol fathau) wedi'u tyfu gan 120 o gynhyrchwyr ar raddfa fach
Beth sy'n mynd yn dda?
Cynhyrchwyr ar raddfa fach sy'n tyfu cnydau amrywiol yn profi ymwybyddiaeth uwch gan gwsmeriaid a gwerth uwch am y cynnyrch, yn ogystal â galw cynyddol am yr holl lysiau lleol a thymhorol. Cynlluniau blychau gyda rhestrau aros, galw am fwyd organig a lleol trwy'r dull dosbarthu hwn.
Mae llawer o gogyddion lleol yn gofyn am gynnyrch lleol ac amrywiol ac mae hyn hefyd yn gyrru'r galw. Soniwyd am gnydau deiliog a saladau a pherlysiau anarferol amlaf fel cnydau posibl i ehangu arnynt.
Mae llawer o gynhyrchwyr yn ychwanegu gwerth at lysiau trwy brosesu er enghraifft i siytni, te llysieuol (perlysiau), llysiau wedi'u eplesu, garlleg wedi’i fygu, cynhyrchion madarch, pwdinau wedi'u rhewi, lolïau iâ, sudd, suropau ffrwythau yn ogystal â jam.
Soniwyd hefyd bod galw am ffrwythau meddal, mefus, riwbob a chyrens duon yn benodol.
Beth yw'r cyfyngiadau?
Diffyg buddsoddiad gan y Llywodraeth o'i gymharu â sectorau eraill sy'n golygu bod cynhyrchwyr ar raddfa fach yn cael trafferth cael chwarae teg.
Diffyg gweledigaeth gydlynol neu gynllun integredig ar gyfer y sector.
Diffyg arbenigedd tyfu a/neu farchnata, fel arfer ymhlith cynhyrchwyr llai sy'n dod i mewn
Gofyn am ffrwythau a llysiau gan boblogaeth Cymru
Amcangyfrifodd yr adroddiad hwn fod Cymru yn cynhyrchu 19,551 tunnell o ffrwythau a llysiau y flwyddyn ar 931 hectar o dir - 0.1% o gyfanswm y tir. Gofyniad ffrwythau a llysiau ‘5 y dydd’ poblogaeth Cymru yw 566,803 tunnell y flwyddyn. Dyw Cymru ond yn cynhyrchu digon i gyflenwi ¼ o gyfran y pen o'r boblogaeth y dydd. Byddai angen 29 gwaith yn fwy o dir i gynhyrchu ‘5 y dydd’ ar gyfer poblogaeth Cymru
Cyfleoedd
Mae gan sector ffrwythau a llysiau Cymru botensial mawr i ddatblygu gyda grŵp craidd o gynhyrchwyr ymroddedig a digon o alw am gynnyrch. Gallai cynllunio a buddsoddi yn y sector weld nifer y cynhyrchwyr a’r cynhyrchiad gwych o Gymru yn cael ei ehangu'n sylweddol er budd busnesau lleol ac iechyd y genedl gyfan.
