This event aimed to help growers understand how they can measure soil health and what they can do to protect and improve soil health on their farm. The meeting covered: What is soil ‘soil’ health? How can we measure it? Including options for in-field and laboratory measurements. How can we maintain and improve soil health? With a focus on the importance of soil organic matter content and good soil structure.The meeting focused on the specific challenges of field vegetable production for soil health, such as soil structural damage that can be caused where crops are harvested during unfavourable weather conditions. This training was delivered by Dr Lizzie Sagoo from ADAS. Dr Lizzie Sagoo is a Principal Soil Scientist at ADAS and co-author of the AHDB Soil Management Guide for Horticulture
