We are a dynamic team of 12 people, with a great diversity of skills and experience and we are seeking a new member to support our growing team as we expand and strengthen our operation.

Job Description
Full time Role. You will assist in propagating and growing a range of vegetable crops in Tyddyn Teg’s plant nursery, polytunnels and gardens, from planning to harvesting and processing. Also assisting in the farm’s retail activities including bag packing, shop management record keeping and delivery driving

Person Specification
The successful applicant will:

Essential
– Have great inter-personal and communication skills to live and work as part of a co-op which has a strong commitment to people care and non-hierarchical systems of governance.
– Be detail orientated, meticulous and practical.
– Be self-motivated, hard-working and organised with the ability to work without instruction or management on a day-to-day basis.
– Be committed to producing high quality seedlings for all of Tyddyn Teg’s agricultural operations through careful propagation and climate control in the nursery.
– Be committed to managing a high-turnover, fast moving growing system, producing high yields of excellent quality vegetable crops in the polytunnels and gardens.
– Be committed to maintaining and strengthening the biodiversity of the growing areas.
– Be committed to supporting plant health through fostering great soil health.
– Be observant and thoughtful – good at critically assessing emerging crop conditions in real-time and responding appropriately.
– Be committed to good record-keeping and data-driven analysis and assessment of crop successes and failures.
– Understand the importance of labour efficiency in market gardening operations.
– Be practical and competent in, or quick to learn, the use of a range of hand tools and powered machinery.
– Have the ability to assess risks (particularly when using powered machinery) and take responsibility for their own and other people’s safety.
– Be friendly and approachable: willing to engage with customers, volunteers and trainees on a day-to-day basis to help build a stronger community.

Desirable
– Experience of managing fruiting crops
– Knowledge/experience of no-dig growing
– Experience living in a community.
– Knowledge/experience of consensus decision making processes
– Willing to take part in teaching and working with volunteers and trainees and helping them to become self-reliant and confident growers.
– Welsh speaking/ an interest in learning Welsh
– Willing to be flexible with regard to work pattern in order to accomplish tasks on time.
– Interest in the wider aims and vision of Tyddyn Teg co-operative and a desire to get involved with helping us shape and deliver them.
– Willingness to support other co-op members with their work and ensure the success of the operation.
– Interest in alternative living.
– A love of cooking and great food.
– Driving licence
