Weed Management.jpg

This event has passed

Recent losses of contact herbicides and increased restrictions on the number of applications and rates of remaining residual herbicides has meant that achieving the desired levels of weed control within both field and container grown ornamental crops has become increasingly challenging. Therefore weed control now, more than ever needs to be planned before the crop is planted so that every opportunity to control weeds can be exploited. With some herbicides various things needs to be considered such as the size of weeds and whether they are actively growing before deciding on the best control option.

A robust herbicide programme is typically in the region of thirty times cheaper when compared to hand weeding alone however herbicide programmes do need to be supplemented by cultural methods such as hand weeding in order to get the best results.

This online meeting will focus on the pros and cons of various weed control methods whilst outlining the use of key contact and residual herbicides.
