The Tyfu Cymru Vegetable Network is delighted to be hosting a study Visit to Barfoots. This is a unique opportunity to visit a hugely successful, first generation farm, who have become a leading horticultural producer. Barfoots are also leaders in sustainability and innovation are currently using robotic weeders.

Barfoots is a major UK horticultural grower, supplying produce to many UK supermarkets and the food service sector. Asparagus, pumpkins, sweetcorn, beans and brassicas are grown at sites across the south of England from Southampton to Chichester and the Isle of Wight. The study tour will be led by Chris Creed and Angela Huckle who will be joined by Barfoots Farm Manager Neil Cairns, and will focus on all aspects of field vegetable production including nutrition management, pest and disease control and growing for optimum quality produce.

At Sefter/Easton in Sussex we will see:

- Sweetcorn harvest and discuss agronomy
- Tenderstem harvest and planting, discuss management and agronomy
- Pumpkins

At Broadlands we will see:

- See asparagus and discuss fern management/agronomy
- Pumpkins
- Dwarf beans
- Brassicas

This study visit is Funded by Tyfu Cymru, and a BBQ lunch will be provided.
