Tyfu Cymru - Royal Welsh Show 2019

Come and find us at the Royal Welsh Show!

The Royal Welsh show is nearly upon us and we are delighted to announce that we will be taking pride of place in the Horticulture Marquee for a week of activities!  From floral art demonstrations to exclusive talks from experts in the field, Tyfu Cymru have partnered up with NBGW, Social Farms and Brit growers to bring you a jam-packed timetable for the whole family!

What’s going on?

To kick off the week, we have a flower crown demonstration with Welsh Grown Flowers on Monday at noon, along with seed planting and bug hunting. These activities will be held throughout the week with us.

On Tuesday we have guest speaker Dr. Natasha de Vere, Head of Science at Aberystwyth University giving an informative talk on gardens for pollinators. With one of her her main research area focusing on the conservation of Wales’ biodiversity, Dr. Natasha will have the best tips on how you can make your garden the place to be!

Later in the day, Kevin Fortey will be making an appearance, sharing his wisdom on giant vegetables and how we can all be part of the trend. Kevin has been growing giant vegetables since he was four years old, so we’re over the moon to have him share his knowledge with us. Kevin believes you can get the whole family involved in growing your 5 a day!

On Thursday, we are very excited to be introducing young gardener and YouTube star, Huw Richards to the potting bench. Huw has also been gardening from a young age, using space on his family’s small holding to film his popular YouTube videos. With over 150,000 subscribers on YouTube and almost 10,000 Instagram followers, Huw emphasises on how important it is to educate and encourage the younger generation to grow their own vegetables. Huw will be sharing his wisdom on sustainable growing and how easy it can be, no matter how big or small your space may be. Check out Huw’s YouTube channel here.

Do not fear the rain! If the Welsh weather fails us, we will be undercover, therefore none of our activities are weather permitting. Also, there is no fee and no need to book*, our informal talks and activities are free and open to all who are visiting the Royal Welsh Show. We look forward to seeing you all for another great show!
