This Study Visit is being delivered through the Farming Connect Horticulture Programme.

Join us on a visit to Claire Austin Hardy Plants to see how they operate as one of Wales’ top horticulture businesses.

The nursery uses 100% peat free compost through all stages of growing conducted on site. On this visit you will be able to see, and discuss, how to implement peat free growing into your own business.

As part of this, Husband and Wife team, Ric & Claire, will be able to discuss how moving to Peat Free can affect other aspects of growing:

• How to approach irrigating when using peat free materials

• Nutrition – Ensuring an adequate feeding regime is maintained

• Mechanisation – Ensuring machinery (pot-filler, tray-filler etc.) suits the material being used

• Pest, Disease & Weed management

Please note that all attendees must be registered with Farming Connect in order to attend. If you are not already registered, please contact the Service Centre on 03456 000 813.
