Location: Local community garden sites in Cilgerran, Blaenffos and Abercych.
Contractual term: Average 6 hours/week for 1 year on a self-employed basis. The role could potentially increase depending on evidence-based success and grant funding.
Salary: £17.50 per hour
Mileage: 44p/mile for previously agreed work-related travel.
Starting Date: ASAP, though we can be flexible on this to attract the right person.

The Garden Manager will be responsible for helping to grow four community growing projects in NE Pembrokeshire, two of which are established community growing sites. Cilgerran Fruit and Nut is an orchard /forest garden and social space in Cilgerran, Field of Beans is a cooperative horticulture venture near Blaenffos. Clynfyw Care Farm are offering space for the community at their kitchen and gardens in Abercych and there are plans for allotments near Cilgerran.

You’ll be working alongside two coordinators who help manage external training courses, events, media and advertising. Your role would be to use your horticultural / permaculture / growing experience to develop volunteers’ growing skills and to support the volunteers in achieving their aims for their gardens. This could include supporting business developments, assisting with crop planning or planning and running training sessions for growers.

Requirements of the Post include:
- To be a knowledgeable horticulturalist / permaculturalist / grower, willing to share this knowledge and engage staff, volunteers and others in the project.
- To work with coordinators and project manager to plan and implement an appropriate and effective programme for the year,
- To seek ways to enhance participants’ experience of the community projects eg through horticultural training or setting up effective growing and communication systems.
- To seek ways to make the community projects sustainable long term: eg through revenue generation, volunteer engagement, succession planning.
- To write a short monthly summary of project progression.
- To participate in team meetings and handovers as appropriate.
- To report any issues to Directors at the first appropriate time.
- To undertake any other reasonable tasks as requested.
